Timber in the City

This was a senor level undergraduate design studio class, at Pennsylvania College of Technology, taught by Geoffrey Campbell in spring 2019.

On Vernon Boulevard in Queens, New York sits a vacant lot right next to the East River and the Queensborough Bridge. A perfect site for a Community Wellness Center, Early Childhood Education Center, and a Residential Building with different sized apartments. Designing these buildings with an emphasis of heavy timber framing and sustainability. A perfect example of how to building misrise building using timber. Most importantly connecting the interior and exterior of the building with the site and its surrounding area.
