Architectural Design Studio I
This course was for the fall of 2019, taught by Felecia Davis at Penn State.

The first part of the course was focused on the idea of threshold and precedent studies. The main project was to design a water taxi station that is located in Pittsburgh, PA. The focus was based on connectivity.
Phase one was to pick a place on campus that you consider a threshold. I choose a location near the Palmer Museum of Art. When passing through this threshold, you get the sense of peace, one with nature. On one side you are in this very loud, busy, hardscape place. You cross through this threshold into a quit, smaller space. On that you are mixed with vegetation.
Phase two was to take the collage created from phase one and study it. Looking at how the photos overlap and create shapes and lines. Taking those lines and create a 3D collage. Taking away the color and images to create more models to understand threshold more.

Final Project

Create a water taxi station that includes a cafe, and a recreation space. I chose to make my recreation space a lounge, where you can relax, listen to a band, and a have bite to eat. The idea was to create a soft space away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
