Kristine Luther
Graduate Architecture Student
ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Kristine Luther, and I am a current graduate student, studying architecture at The Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA. My journey to college was a hard experience. It took me some time to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life after graduating high school. Taking some time to figure out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It made me think about my future and how I wanted to make something of myself. Attending college was the best decision to help achieve my goals and aspirations. When I put my mind to it, I can do anything. I am the type of person that does not give up very easily and will try anything to succeed in life and in my career. Attending graduate school was the next step for the success in my career.
My views on Architecture
Architecture is the art and science of creating shelter to protect us from the elements while also providing for an experiential journey through space and volume. Architecture and design have evolved sequentially over time with the advent of technology and materials. These advancements influence our lives everyday in good and meaningful ways.

Passive House and Retrofits
Retrofit homes was an area of study that I never thought about before. My assistantship was about retrofit homes for low-income, single-family home. After looking into what is retrofits and how it worked really became an area of interest for me. Upgrading homes to lower energy cost for low-income homes is great and I hope that we can have these programs everywhere. Making these improvements helps the occupants health, and comfort.
Designing new homes to be Passive House, will help with the use of energy and improve the comfort of the occupant.
